I’ve actually been needing to buy a new computer for a while now. But realizing that the new Intel chip was coming and August is just around the corner, I waited.
In my years covering personal technology, back-to-school sales bring about the second best time of the year to get a deal on a computer. New models are released, there are sales galore and retailers toss in many extras (I spotted free Microsoft Office, which is still handy for anyone who writes).
I took all the tips I’d gathered over the years, updated them by interviewing those who know a lot more than I do and wrote it all up for TheStreet. Story appeared last Friday.
